Estate Caretaker

Salary: £20,000 - £25,000 DOE

The Company

LDC Care Co is an expanding family owned care provider with over 50 services located in Folkestone, Dover, Ashford and Herne Bay, supporting adults with highly complex learning disabilities, physical disabilities and mental health diagnoses within residential and supported living environments. We focus on building bespoke person-centred services around the individual and support them to work towards achieving life-changing outcomes.

The Role

The post holder will manage all maintenance requirements of the Company and its services as part of a team, providing onsite assistance where possible and liaising with third party suppliers as appropriate. Reporting to the Office Manager, the post holder will ensure all services and sites occupied by the Company are Health and Safety compliant, as well as being pleasant environments in which to live and work.

Key Accountabilities & Responsibilities

Leading on maintenance requirements of the Company, including office, residential and supported living services as required. Trades include, but are not limited to all areas of non-certified trades:

  • Painting and decorating

  • Plastering

  • Labouring

  • General plumbing

  • General electrical work

  • Waste disposal

  • Fitting and removal of household objects and appliances

  • Small scale construction work

  • General carpentry

  • Managing records and systems in line with the Company’s maintenance reporting procedures

  • Researching and purchasing the required materials, ensuring good value for money

  • Carrying out ad hoc duties as required, to ensure a safe and secure environment for staff and Service Users

The post holder is responsible for ensuring their knowledge remains up to date in all areas of relevant legislation.


Person Specification

The Company expects this post holder to:

  • Be committed to their personal development, including working towards qualified trades as required by the Company

  • Communicate clearly with colleagues, Service Users and external providers

  • Adhere to all policies and procedures implemented by the Company

  • Be polite and courteous at all times whilst representing the Company

  • Have a full clean driving licence (vehicle provided to the right candidate, for work use only)

  • Be able to participate in a weekend on-call rota as required by the Company
